GOVERNOR’S WEEKLY REPORT || AUGUST 1-5, 2022
August 5, 2022
One of the highlights of the Bulawan Festival 2025 is the debut of the Binibining Davao de Oro in time for the womenโs month celebration.
The first edition of the pageant highlights the beauty of all municipalities through their respective candidates.
Governor Dorothy “Dotdot” M. Gonzaga thanked all the municipal mayors for participating in the event. Being a woman herself, she wanted to champion womenโs contribution to society through this pet project.
She recalled the hardships that Davao de Oro faced over the past two years, and she was grateful that in her last year as governor, events as big as Bb. Davao de Oro had finally come to fruition. This is her way of showing people that, despite the challenges, there is indeed a rainbow after the rain.

Likewise, the newly-crowned Bb. Davao de Oro, Joryhll Kaye Jaso of Maragusan promised to use her platform to good use by ensuring to advocate for a sustainable community that promotes risk-reduction management.
Her winning answer touched the hearts of many as Davao de Oro became the headline for several weeks last year during the Masara landslide.
โAs your next Bb Davao de Oro through Godโs favor, I am here to aspire and inspire everyone to always move forward and make a positive changeโ.

Jaso won Php 100,000 pesos in cash while the first runner-up, Andrea Mizpah Flores of Mawab, swept almost all major awards: Ms. Photogenic, Peopleโs Choice, Best in Playsuit, and Best in Evening Gown, bringing her total winnings to Php 100,000 pesos in cash. Laakโs Carla Ysabel Jane Tuppil went home with Php 50,000 pesos as the second runner-up, Michelle Magallanes of Maco got Php 30,000 pesos as the third runner-up, and Ellene Heart Planoos of Montevista reigns as the fourth runner-up and awarded as Best in Talent with a total of Php 35,000 pesos as prize.

Pantukanโs Athena Kate Guardados won Best in Festival Costume while her designer, RL Omadle, won Best in Festival Design, each receiving Php 10,000 pesos and Php 15,000 pesos respectively. The remaining candidates didnโt go home in tears as all of them received Php 20,000 pesos as consolation prizes.
This landmark competition is just the beginning of beautiful things ahead for the province of Davao de Oro. The beauty and brains Gov. Dotdot assures people that there are other programs and projects lined-up for our women, who are the โheartโ of the province. She hopes that more people will support such initiatives the same way that we support pageants as a whole.

The event was also graced with Ms. Supranational 2023 1st runner-up Pauline Amelinckx presence as the chair of the board of judges and a special number from Sam Milby. // Z Manalo โ PAO-IPRD
