OFFICIAL MESSAGE OF THE DEPARTMENT HEAD


Through the years, the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAGRO) of Davao de Oro continuously implemented its mandated tasks of promoting agricultural production and supporting the local farmers and fisherfolks to become profitable and resilient by providing them technical assistance, agricultural and fishery development interventions to further advance their welfare as the most vulnerable yet very important sector in the province.

With the significant support of the Department of Agriculture to the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro, PAGRO together with the Municipal Agriculturist Offices successfully delivered various agricultural programs and extension services to our constituents. Also, the advent of the newly implemented Province-led Agricultural Fishery Extension System (PAFES) hopes to synchronize agricultural plans and programs whereby orchestrating the activities of the various stake holders in order to assure the attainment of the province as rice sufficient among the five provinces of Davao Region. This is amidst the calamities that affects productivity of farmers and fisherfolks.

Moreover, with the leadership of our very dynamic leader, Honorable Governor Dorothy “Dotdot” Montejo Gonzaga, PAGRO will succeed in its developmental focus to embark into massive and commercial in scale production of a wide range of emerging and potentially high-value crops with superior marketing appreciation both locally and abroad. The introduction of new ideas in agri-business and the establishment of Farm Tourism and Eco Tourism, Food Terminals, as emerging new trend in the field of agriculture business development in Davao de Oro. The aggressive and inclusive approach in the development of the sector is very noticeable in the implementation of both local and national programs. One glaring improvement is the assimilation of Gender and Development in the agricultural sector which have notably progressed due to the consistent involvement of rural women. Also promising is the sustainable fishery programs province-wide with production and regulatory training specifically on aquaculture and the production and provision of fingerlings. This is to ensure that sustainable marine resources are properly managed to sustain the growing populace. All these pursued with the guidance of the divine creator whereby Davao de Oro will continue to be a haven of God fearing and industrious people.
