Bayanihan para sa Karunungan (BPSK)

Bayanihan para sa Karunungan is the literacy program of the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro which aims to improve the reading capacity of grade school students. This program focuses on the first three levels of primary school, namely Grade 1, 2, and 3, as these make up the children’s foundational years in primary school.

Although the main objective of the Karunungan program is to ensure that its beneficiaries become independent readers by the time that they reach fourth grade, the program also features Peace Education, IP Education, and Nutrition Education components along with other activities such as the virtual project, Usapang Karunungan, for a more holistic approach.

Starting with only 3 public elementary schools when it was launched in 2013, the Karunungan program now serves a total of 68 school beneficiaries across the province. This was made possible through the collaborative efforts between the Provincial Local Government of Davao de Oro, the Department of Education, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and various other private partners and non- government organizations.
