BM Albert P. Camana is the new Comval IPMR
Compostela Valley Province- Albert P. Camana is the new IPMR (Indigenous Peoples’ Mandatory Representative) of Compostela Valley Province. BM Camana took the oath last August 2, 2019 in front of the Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy at the Provincial Capitol of Compostela Valley during the Provincial Tribal Council (PTC) meeting.
BM Albert P. Camana is a native of Pantukan, Compstela Valley Province. He took Bachelor of Science in Public Administration at the Marawi State University and graduated in the year 1998 through the help of Indigenous People’s Scholarship.
“Since childhood, I am fully aware what a leader is. Being grown-up with a pure blooded IP family whose father was a tribal chieftain of Mansaka Tribe in the municipality of Pantukan.” said BM Camana in one of his speeches.
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.” a famous quotation from Nelson Mandela mirrors BM Camana’s journey towards becoming the Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative of Compostela Valley.
BM Camana was once a community affairs officer from July 2, 2007 to March 15, 2019 at the Provincial Government of Compostela Valley. Among 60 tribal council members who joined the Provincial IPMR Selection Process held at the Provincial Capitol of Comval Province on April 8, 2019. BM Camana was selected as the new Provincial IPMR via the “National and Local IPMR Selection Guidelines” of NCIP Regional Office.
Before elected as the New IPMR of Comval Province, BM Camana was tasked to create programs and activities for the benefit of the IP’s with the aid of the office of National Commission on Indigenous People and was participated by other concerned agencies.
“It was not an easy task to be done for it needs compassion, perseverance and sincerity to resolve conflict.” said BM Camana when conflict arose at Brgy. Napnapan, Pantukan Comval Province.
“My life has been devoted in serving the Indigenous People’s community from my younger years up to the present time. In my heart and in my mind, I know that leadership is not based on gender, civil status, age nor standards perhaps. It is within yourself to carry it.” said BM Camana.
Compostela Valley will continue to promote inclusion among its constituents. BM Albert P. Camana as the IPMR (Indigenous Peoples’ Mandatory Representative) will be the voice of the 6 recognized tribes of Compostela Valley Province. (Jasteen P. Abella, ID Comval)
