Compostela Valley Province— A Regional Evacuation Center worth 34 Million Pesos was turned over on July 31, 2019 located at the provincial capitol ground with Vice-Governor Maricar Zamora representing Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, Regional Dir. Engr. Allan S. Borromeo of DPWH Region XI. This is a joint project from the NDRRMC-Office of the Civil Defense (NDRRMC-OCD), DPWH, DOH, DILG, and DSWD.
The Turn-over ceremony was held during the “1st Compostela Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Summit 2019” at the Provincial Capitol of Compostela Valley Province. This was attended by various personalities with the PDRRMO Chief Joseph Randy Loy in behalf of Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, the head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) headed by the Municipal Mayors of Compostela Valley and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Providing safety for the welfare of all Comvaleños in times of natural disasters, the Regional Evacuation Center was established by President Rodrigo Duterte (PRRD) through the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The event was also attended by the Commission on Audit (COA), Department of Interior and Local Government headed by DILG PD Noel Duarte, officials from the Civil Service Defense (OCD) Region XI headed by Dir. Manuel Louis M. Ochotorena, officials from DOST/PAGASA and the humanitarian Partners such as the Philippine Red Cross and ACF.
The “Regional Evacuation Center” is fully equipped with all the facilities needed for basic human needs and can accommodate 33 families according to DPWH Region XI Dir. Engr. Allan S. Borromeo.(Jasteen P. Abella, ID Comval)
