Comval donates Php500,00.00 to the victims of earthquake in Itbayat, Batanes
Compostela Valley Province—A total of P500,000.00 financial assistance from Compostela Valley Province under Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy as the Chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) was formally turnover to the provincial officials of the province of Batanes led by Governor Marilou Cayco who declared a state of calamity due to a magnitude 6.0 earthquake in the area.
Gov. Uy already announced during the Monday employees convocation program last July 29, 2019 that the provincial government is planning to give financial assistance to the victims of the magnitude 6.0 earthquake last July 27, 2019 at the Municipality of Itbayat, Batanes.
At least 9 dead with a total of 2, 963 individuals and 911 families were affected during the earthquake and 10 school buildings were damaged.
On August 1, 2019, Gov. Uy called an emergency council meeting together with the members of the PDRRMC of Comval to approve the proposed resolutions for the financial assistance for the municipality of Itbayat, Batanes held at the Gold Conference Room, DepEd Building, Capitol Compound in Nabunturan.
The proposed resolution is a resolution authorizing the governor to provide five hundred thousand pesos (P500,000.000) financial assistance to the said municipality chargeable against the 30% quick response fund of the LDRRMF AB of Calendar Year 2019 and another resolution requesting the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to grant authority to the governor to provide the said assistance.
It was approved immediately by the members of the SP during the 7th regular session held on August 13, 2019 at the SP Session Hall led by presiding officer Honorable Vice-Governor Maria Carmen S. Zamora. (Rey Antibo, ID Comval)
