DSWD Secretary REX Gatchalian, together with Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, among other officials, led the distribution of financial and food aid to earthquake affected families in several barangays in Davao de Oro on March 9, 2023.
Barangays Andap in New Bataan, Manat in Nabunturan, Panoraon and New Leyte in Maco, and Paloc in Maragusan were among the areas who received the aid. These included food items, cash assistance, and other essential supplies, making sure that each family received the appropriate assistance they needed.
The assistance was provided through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the DSWD, which aims to provide immediate support to families affected by disasters.
Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, Board Member Herv Apsay, New Bataan Mayor Gerald Balbin, Nabunturan Mayor Myrocel Balili, Maragusan Mayor Angelito Cabalquinto, Maco Vice Mayor Alvera Veronica Rimando, and DSWD XI Regional Director Atty. Vanessa Goc-ong were among those who accompanied Sec. Gatachalian during his visit.
As of latest report of PDRRMO on March 9, the series of earthquakes directly affected a total of 37,088 families in the province and leaving 2,966 completely and partially damaged houses. Sec.
