MISSION
The Provincial Health Office of Davao de Oro commits to deliver quality, integrated and equitable health care services, highly motivated and empowered health care advocates championing in the delivery of high quality and equitable health care services which encompasses all levels of care with other stakeholders in a comprehensive and collaborative manner for Dabawenyos.
MANDATE & FUNCTION
1) Supervises the personnel and staff of said office, formulates program implementation guidelines and rules and regulations for the operation of the said office for the approval of the governor, in order to assist him in the efficient,
effective and economical implementaion of a health services pogram geared to implementation of health-related projects and activities;
(2) Formulates measure for the consideration of the sanggunian and to provide technical assistance and support of the
governor, in carrying out activities to ensure the delivery of basic services and provision of adequate facilities relative to health services provided under Section 17 of RA 7160;
(3) Develops plans and strategies and upon approval of the governor, implement the same, particularly those which have to do with health programs and projects which the governor, is empowered to implement and which the sanggunian is empowered to provide under this code;
(4) Formulates and implements policies, plans, programs and projects to promote the health of the people in the local
government unit concerned;
(5) Advises the governor, and the sanggunian on matters pertaining to health;
(6) Executes and enforces all laws, ordinances and regulations relating to public health;
(7) Recommends the sanggunian, through the Provincial Local Health Board, the passage of such ordinances as it may
deem necessary for the preservation of public health;
(8) Recommends the prosecution of any violation of sanitary laws, ordinance or regulations;
(9) Directs the sanitary inspection of all business establishments selling food items or providing accommodations such as hotels, motels, lodging houses, pension houses, and the like in accordance with the Sanitation Code;
(10) Conducts health information campaigns and render health intelligence services;
(11) Coordinates with other government agencies and non-governmental organizations involved in the promotion and
delivery of health services;
(12) Execises general supervision over health officers of the Local Government Units (LGUs) of the province:
(13) Be in the frontline of the delivery of health services, particularly during and in the aftermath of man-made and natural disasters and calamities;
(14) Exercises such other powers and perfroms other duties and function as may be prescribed by law and ordinance;
(15) Conducts medical check-up for walk-in clients, medical and surgical outreach activities;
(16) Oversees the sustainability of the implementation of the Quality Management System
(QMS); and
(17) Performs other related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or higher authorities.
