Before occupying the highest post of the province, he served as Provincial Sports Coordinator and at the same, officer-in-charge of the School Chairs Program, a program initiated by former Tagum City Mayor Rey T. Uy that distributes free chairs to public schools in Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley.

In 2013, he was elected Senior Board Member and was selected Chair of three standing legislative committees- Committee on Youth, Games and Amusements, Committee on Health and Social Services and Committee on Education and Information Technology.

Due to his exemplary performance in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the people of Compostela Valley elected him as the fifth governor of the province. By far, he is the youngest provincial governor in the entire Mindanao.

In his three years in office, Gov. Tyron Uy rolled out innovative programs that truly promoted the welfare of youth and children such as the Kusina ng Kalinga Program to combat malnutrition among schoolchildren, the Oplan Liwanag, a community-based drug rehabilitation program, Oplan Pagbabago, a program that provide peace and development initiatives for the province’s geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. He also strengthened the Bayanihan para sa Karunungan, a program that improves literacy and reading comprehension among public school students and the Bayanihan Build Program that provides free housing units for poor and homeless families. He also led the Provincial Task Force-Naboc River, a special body created to work on the rehabilitation of the Diwalwal Mineral Reservation Area. All of these programs employ “bayanihan governance”, a style of leadership that encourages convergence of sectors and stakeholders, citizen participation and innovation.

Gov. Uy is also the trailblazers of several innovative projects in his province such as the Green Mining Technology to promote more responsible mining activities and the ComVal I-Rice Project to fight anemia among schoolchildren in his province.

In his short stint in government, he received prestigous accolades such as the Innovators of Asia Award from Benita and Catalino Yap Foundation and the Pag-asa Award from the Civil Service Commission for his ComVal IRice Program.

Gov. Tyron finished a master’s degree on public administration from the Ateneo de Davao University and a degree on Medical Technology from Velez College in Cebu.

He is also an alumnus of many seminars, conferences and executive courses. To name a few, the young governor finished the Executive Course on National Security at the National Defense College of the Philippines, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the Provincial Governance and Leadership Program of the Zuellig Family Foundation, and the 10th National Youth Parliament.

He was also appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016 as the Chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council, a body created to coordinate peace and development initiatives in Davao Region. He is also the commanding officer of the 1103rd Ready Reserve Battalion of the Philippine Army, Armed Forces of the Philippines, the President of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Eastern Mindanao Council, Vice Chair of the Davao Integrated Development Program and Chair of the Agusan River Basin Development Council.
