The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro has placed strong support on baby’s nutrition as it officially launched the First 1000 Days (F1KD) Program on August 26 in the Municipality of Laak.
16 teenage pregnant women qualified for this program after being identified as nutritionally at risk.
The beneficiaries will receive sustained support from pregnancy until childbirth. Assistance includes rice provision, free prenatal check-ups, and nutrition education sessions to ensure both maternal and child health.
The activity is in line with the nationwide observance of Breastfeeding Month, opening access to other pregnant and breastfeeding mothers who were provided with free medical services such as laboratory and medical examinations, dental services, as well as medicines and vitamins.
The same program was previously rolled out in Pantukan, culminating on June 4, 2025, at DDOPH-Pantukan with 20 beneficiaries. The next implementation is set in the municipality of Monkayo, guided by the Regional Health Information System (RHIS) data, which identifies areas with high cases of teenage pregnancy and low body mass index among pregnant women.
