“Side-4 Compostela receives another classroom units for an Integrated School via Bayanihan Sa Paaralan 2019”
Compostela Valley Province— Side-4 Barangay Mangayon, Compostela receives 1 unit 2 classroom building, 1 unit teacher’s cottage and 1 unit Kusina ng Kalinga special case on October 12, 2019.
Side-4 is a remote area in one of the barangays of Compostela, Brgy. Mangayon. Having a simple structure of living, natives from Side-4 rely only in farming as their source of food and income and a fare of 300 pesos is needed to travel back and forth to the area.
4 teachers were assigned to teach in the natives of Side 4. Two teachers in the Elementary level namely Ma’am Imelda D. Nastor and Ma’Am Apple Jean Delos Santos and Sir Dunhill C. Dayanan and Ma’am Joy Villanueva in the High School level. A total of 78 learners were currently enrolled in Mangayon Tribal Integrated School, 57 students from the Elementary and 21 students in High School.
“Sa pagtudlo sa mga estudyante, nagagamit gyud ko ug realias kay wala may computers available diri, usahay pod sa mga activities ginarelate gyud nako kung unsa sila nga tribe.” said Ma’am Imelda Nastor. It is a big challenge for the newly assigned teachers in Side-4, but they still show gratefulness for the support of the Provincial Government of Comval in terms of school needs.
Builder and Partners for the Bayanihan Build were the different LGUs of Comval Province, Barangays of the Municipality of Compostela and other governmemt and non-government agencies. A total of 4 classroom units were turned-over to Side-4, the first two units were given during the last bayanihan build.
Children from Side-4 were enrolled in Salugpungan schools and were later changed after the government abolished its operations and now schooling in a DepEd school.
“Dako akong pasalamat nga ang gobyerno wala diay natulog ug gitabangan gyud mi. Miabot ko dre tuig 1997 wala gyud mi katilaw ug in ani nga eskwelahan ug nanghinaot pod ko nga dili nami samukon sa mga taga-bukid arun mapadayun ang pag eskwela sa amuang mga anak.” said Mercy Mambay-an, a native resident of Side-4, Mangayon, Compostela.(Jasteen P.
