Blessed with stunning natural landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and a rich cultural heritage, Davao de Oro on September 25, 2023, through the PAO-Tourism Division, celebrated World Tourism Month, focusing on green investments that align with the global movement towards sustainable tourism for economic growth and development.
Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Christine T. Dompor said the annual celebration is a call to action to raise awareness among residents regarding the importance of environmental conservation and to actively participate in protecting the province’s natural beauty.
She also added that the activity aims to strengthen the collaborative work of tourism players and stakeholders through convention of Provincial Tourism Council and honor the exemplary tourism officers who have made an impact in the promotion of the tourism industry.
Among the highlighted activities are the launching of Nabunturan Agri-Eco Tourism Circuit (𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑒 𝑉𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑦, 𝑁𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑛 𝐹𝑎𝑟𝑚, 𝑁𝐴𝐹𝐴𝑀𝐶𝑂 𝐷𝑎𝑖𝑟𝑦 𝐹𝑎𝑟𝑚, 𝑀𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑔-𝐿𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑔 𝐶𝑎𝑣𝑒, 𝑇𝑜𝑦𝑜𝑧𝑜 𝑀𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑡, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐷𝑎𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑎 𝑉𝑖𝑒𝑤 𝐷𝑒𝑐𝑘), Fashion Exhibit at the Grand Mall Nabunturan, and DdO’s Fashion Week, which contribute to the overall growth and development of the local fashion scene, boosting the economy and fostering creativity and innovation.
They also conducted community-based ecotourism management skills training and a series of tree-planting activities.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Maco’s threefold approach to tourism resilience advocacy won the Search for DdO Tourism Ambassador, characterized by three key themes that underscored their commitment to resilience in the face of adversity.
Further, Dompor presented the Provincial Tourism Development and Management Plan that provides a unified direction for the province’s vision of becoming the leading agri-investment and eco-agri tourism destination in Mindanao by 2040. (Rheafe Hortizano)
