Turn Over of the Completed PRDP Project in Davao De Oro
Davao De Oro Province— The Provincial Government of Davao De Oro in partnership with Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) turns over the completed Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) on September 7, 2017 at Brgy. Gymnasium, Nueva Visayas, Mawab.
The rehabilitation of the Barangay road was spearheaded by Governor Jayvee Tryon Uy along with PRDP-PSO Mindanao, Regional Project Coordination Office XI and PPMIO.
“PRDP is to alleviate poverty to really help the farmers nga maka gain og access thru completing roads”, Gov. Tyron said.
PRDP is funded by the World Bank under the Department of Agriculture (DA) . It was designed to establish an inclusive and market-oriented agri-fishery sector through strategic investments in priority commodities, value chain analysis and infrastructure development and improvements.
The road project traversed two municipalities in Davao De Oro; from Municipality of Mawab in Barangays Nuevo Iloco, Andili and Nueva Visayas to the Municipality of Maco in Barangays Panibasan and Kinuban. It runs a total length of 5.10564 km. amounting to PhP53.22M.
“This is the 1st completed projects of PRDP Region XI. It will open more social and economic opportunities for the people who live there”, says MRDP Engr. Maria Fe Gabonales.
She added that this project is expected to give easy access, lesser travel time and lesser expenses in the delivery of farm inputs from the market to the farm and vice versa.
The purpose of this FMR is to lessen the burden of the farmers in transporting the products in the market places that will also ensure its good quality.
