Davao de Oro—Amidst the heavy rains, thousands of people flocked to Maragusan Municipal Grandstand as they welcomed the thanksgiving party of the new administration led by Mayor Lito Cabalquinto and witnessed the first-ever Lechon festival in Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
“Nibalik man ang ulan pero sege lang kay kini tima-ilhan lang gihapon sa mga blessings nagdagayday gikan sa kalangitan para sa katawhan sa Maragusan. Mao nang daghan salamat lord sa ingani nga kahigayunan ug daghang salamat kaninyu kay naminaw mo sa ginoo inyuha ko gitaagan ug tsansa nga makapangalagad sa inyu,” said Gov. Dororthy Gonzaga in her message.
On Tuesday (July 5, 2022), a motorcade was conducted within the vicinity of Maragusan where they exhibit their best lechons in town. Around two-hundred forty (240) Lechons were prepared to comprise 120 Lechons as a personal appreciation of Mayor Cabalquinto and 120 Lechons donated by Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga and Governor Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga.
The event was also graced by visitors from the 24 barangays in Maragusan, Brgy. officials & functionaries, NGAs, cooperatives, and other business sectors.
Beforehand, the Augmented 7th band of Davao, along with other religious groups led the praise-and-worship to the people as they set the new face of governance and the first-ever lechon festival. Moreover, the homegrown talents such as the Maragusan Hip-hop Dance Community and the Quatro, together with some GMA artists amused the crowd with their superb performances. Meanwhile, free services like free haircuts, manicures, and pedicures were also conducted by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) –Maragusan and the Municipal Health Office (MHO)-Maragusan was on standby for emergency responses.
The finale of the celebration was witnessed through a thanksgiving concert and a fireworks display which gave the people light and hope for a better Maragusan. Thus, these kinds of events, organized by G&Jworks Production by Jaime, would offer more opportunities for Maragusan, as the Summer Capital of Davao de Oro, to spur tourism development and a great platform to showcase what a place like Maragusan has to offer not just in the Philippines but to the whole world.
