In a symphony of faith, community, and resiliency, the Provincial Capitol Grounds of Davao de Oro resonates with vitality and determination as it celebrates its 26th Founding Anniversary on March 8, 2024.
The day commences with the solemnity of the Pontifical Mass, presided over by Most Reverend Medel S. Aseo, Bishop of Diocese Tagum. Leaders, employees of the province, as well as guests from different sectors gathered in prayer and reflection, extending their hopes and aspirations towards the betterment of the province and its people.
Following the spiritual embrace of the Mass, the official program unfolds with an opening message from Board Member Vivencia L. Secuya. As part of the celebration, the province also recognizes women empowerment by inviting a distinguished speaker, Honorable Justice Evalyn Arellano-Morales. She emphasizes that any woman can accomplish meaningful significance regardless of the situation because women have no limits. She ended her speech leaving a note “Patutunayan natin ang kakayahan ng kababaihan”.
Meanwhile, the major highlight of the event – State of the Province Report (SOPR) delivered by Governor Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga together with the Provincial Government Department Heads, showcasing the comprehensive overview of the accomplishments that the province achieved in the pillars of Education, Infrastructure, Health, Agriculture, Peace, and Institutional. With vision, Governor Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga outlines initiatives to propel our province towards greater prosperity and inclusivity. The Governor concluded the SOPR by leaving a message to the people of Davao de Oro “Ang atung probinsya sa pagkakaron, MAS LIG-ON, MAS KUSGAN, tungod kay gipahugtan gyud nato and pagsunod sa prinsipyo sa TRANSPARENCY UG ACCOUNTABILITY, luyo sa mga hadla sa panahon”.
The program wrapped up by Honoring the Responders and Rescuers who have shown their exceptional bravery, dedication, and selflessness during the Masara Landslide in Maco, Davao de Oro. It was then followed by a Ceremonial Turnover of Certificate of Titles to the Housing Program beneficiaries from Montevista and Monkayo while a release of honorarium was held for more than 2000 Kasangga sa Kapayapaan ng Probinsya (KKP) from the 11 municipalities as they received Php 2k each.
