GOVERNOR’S WEEKLY REPORT || AUGUST 1-5, 2022
August 5, 2022
Davao City — The Communicators for Development Network (C4DNet XI) composed of government information officers from the different provinces, cities and state universities, and colleges (SUCs), and NEDA personnel in Davao region convened for a branding workshop for the Davao Region Development Plan (DRDP) 2023-2028 with Derf Hanzel Maiz, head of the Social Communication Center from the Holy Cross College of Davao, as the resource speaker.
The workshop focused on fully preparing the communicators’ roles in successfully implementing and promoting the core messages of the DRDP 2023-2028 through the use of effective advocacy/IEC materials. As a result, they are tasked with developing a communication strategy and branding guidelines for a stronger identity, while also raising public awareness about the DRDP.
NEDA XI Regional Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim and one of the advisers to the C4DNet XI reiterated that the communicators should take the workshop seriously because it would aid in the production of good materials for the DRDP launching event, which will be hosted by the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI sometime in May 2023, as well as for subsequent DRDP Communication and Advocacy Plan activities.
“In support to the DRDP’s successful implementation, communication and advocacy activities shall be undertaken so that information on the regional development directions shall reach various stakeholders in the different areas of the region and that they are properly understood.” RD Lim added.
The DRDP 2023-2028 is a blueprint or roadmap which is to stimulate job creation and poverty reduction, leading to significant recovery and growth in Davao Region as one of the fastest regional economies in the country.
“There’s a need for us to communicate this especially among the vulnerable sector and in the grassroots level. What’s in it for them? Hopefully, with this workshop and the succeeding activities, we will be able to generate more awareness and build support to the implementation of the Plan,” C4DNet XI President and Davao de Oro Information Officer Fe F Maestre said.
On December 13, 2022, the RDC XI ratified the DRDP, 2023-2028, through Resolution No. 139, series of 2022. As a result, on March 24, 2023, the RDC XI passed Resolution No. 07, series of 2023, affirming the Communication and Advocacy Plan for the DRDP, 2023-2028. (J. Fernandez, Photos by NEDA, F. Maestre)
