As its regular mission to provide a coordinated and collaborative approach in maintaining peace and order in Davao de Oro, the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) convened on its 4th Quarter Meeting today, October 11, 2023, to address security concerns, and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
With the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections on October 30, PPOC Chairperson Gov. Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga also addressed the council saying, “𝑤𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑒 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑠𝑜 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎 𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑏𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑡 (𝐵𝑆𝐾𝐸) 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒.”
For the security updates, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Office and the 1001st Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army (PA) presented the security updates and reported on the current state of peace and order in the province.
As per report from the PA, “there is no CTG activity in the area 1year, 3 months and 18 days (since the declaration of an insurgency-free Davao de Oro).” This, as the law enforcement agencies continue to call for continued convergence and “whole of nation approach” to maintain the gains achieved by the province and the region, as a whole.
Meanwhile, DILG Provincial Director Noel Duarte announced the results of the 2022 PPOC Performance Audit where through DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-066, the province garnered a score of 100% with an adjectival rating of Functional. According to Duarte, “the result was based on the compliance rate of the following pillars, namely: Organization, Meetings, Policies, plan and budget, Reports, General Supervision, Innovations, and other Development Indicators.” With this, in a letter forwarded to the governor, DILG Regional Dir. Alex Roldan extended his congratulations for the exemplary performance of the council saying “may you continue to be our partner in implementing our peace, security, and development agenda towards building peaceful, orderly and safe communities.”//
