DdO’s Pista ng Pamilyang Pilipino recognizes family as builders of peaceful & well-developed society

To recognize the significance of family in society, the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), spearheaded the Pista ng Pamilyang Pilipino 2023 as it celebrates the National Family Week 2023.

With the theme “Pamilyang Pilipino: Pagtugon sa Nagbabagong Panahon at Pananaw”, Family focal persons of 11 municipalities, together with some former overseas Filipinos (OFs), solo parents, and 4Ps graduated families, convened at the Provincial Capitol Lobby as they participated in various activities on November 9–10.

The two-day event brought the following events: Orientation on Solo Parent Welfare Act and Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), Overseas Filipino Forum, Lecture on Responsible Parenthood and Effectiveness Services, and Skills and Livelihood Training (Rug Making).

In her statement, Governor Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga, represented by Board Member Ruwina S. Gonzaga, emphasized the crucial role of a family as it mirrors the essence of a peaceful and well-developed society.

“Importante kaayu ang pamilya kay mao kana ang tubod sa kung unsa ang kumunidad nga anaa kita. Kung naa may pagsuway [sa pamilya]… makasala man ang usa ka tao sa kinabuhi aduna gyud nay tsansa. Always hatagan natog tsansa ang atong mga membro sa pamilya kay diha nag tubod ang kalinaw ug kahiusahan sa usa ka kumunidad [ug] sa usa ka probinsya.” expressed BM Gonzaga.

She concluded her message by expressing hope for the activity’s success, aiming to impart more wisdom to brace Davaoeño families during challenging times. She said, “Isip lider , ang pamilya gipangga tungod kay mao kini ang giserbisyohan sa gobyerno”.

Meanwhile, OIC-Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Nenita A. Pongcol underscored the resiliency among Davaoeño families as they rose despite the hurdles brought by the pandemic over the past years and challenges brought by recent calamities.

“Grabe ang challenges ang gihatag sa atoa but until karun nibarog gihapon ta isip lig-on nga pamilyang pilipino. Usa kini ka hagit kanato nga magpabiling lig-on kanunay, dapat mahimo tang inspirasyon sa kabataan” she said.

She likewise encouraged parents, saying “mao na nga dapat mapalig-on nato atong pamilya pinaagi sa paghatag og pagtagad sa kabataan labi na sa iyung matag-adlaw nga komunikasyon kay importante gyud na”.

Further, the two-day program concluded with Funpamilya Competitions. The Plaza Family of Mawab town was recognized as the 1st Place winner, followed by the Aguanta Family of Maco town (2nd Place), and the Bulinde Family of Mabini town (3rd Place) for the Bibong Pamilya: Pop Dance Competition. In the Artistahing Pamilya: Video Content Creation Contest, the Imbad Family of Monkayo town secured the 1st Place, followed by the Clordearta Family of Mawab town (2nd Place), and the Bulinde Family of Mabini town (3rd Place).

Additionally, the Amihan Family from Montevista town was hailed as the Huwarang Pamilya Provincial Winner, and Felice Grace Astronomo, also from Montevista town, received the Exemplary Child Provincial Winner award. (Jaynus Fernandez, Photos by A. Dayao)
