Davao de Oro’s Tourism Wellness loops offer more than meets the eye. With over 3 million tourist visits from January 2020 to June this year, the province’s highlands, coastal, and wellness loops have proven their significance to the overall impact of tourism returns in the country.
Recently, the tourism division of PLGU-Davao de Oro headed by Senior Tourism Officer Christine Dompor, was granted a certificate from the Department Of Tourism Davao Region signed by Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan. The certification signifies that the province’s tourism is an important Tourism Destination Area (TDA) in Davao Region.
The province’s inclusion in the National and Regional Tourism Development Plan, the “The Colors of Mindanao” campaign, the Tourism Promotion Board in its marketing and promotional activities, and the significant tourism circuits of the Davao Region with ready and existing tourist attractions made it a key player in the preferment of the tourism revenue nation-wide.
Further, Davao de Oro is recognized for its contribution to the regional tourists’ receipts, stay, and arrivals, supported by the data from the tourism office wherein the province was able to revamp from the effects of the pandemic in its tourism industry. Davao de Oro is also a beneficiary of several tourism projects, such as TIEZA (Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority) buildings and TRIPPC (Tourism Road Infrastructure Project Prioritization Criteria) road networks, leading to tourism destinations and a beneficiary of skills enhancement training for the development of its human capital and continuous establishment of the culture of tourism.
This month, the tourism office of DdO will spearhead the Tourism Month Celebration in the province, highlighting activities that will benefit entrepreneurs and filmmakers and capacitate workers in various tourism workforces in Davao de Oro. The monthlong activities includes TurisTiangge Opening, DdO Ice Cream Festival, Tourism Training Series, 9th Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition, Turismo Awards, Oath-taking of officers and Launching of DdO Circuits.
