In a heartwarming display of support and dedication to the communities, the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro through the Provincial Health Office yielded significant results during the culmination program of the “GWorks sa Wastong Nutrisyon” held at the Provincial Capitol Lobby on March 26, 2024.
In a span of 120 days, Governor Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga, alongside the commitment of the PLGU employees from the different offices, as well as the National Government Agencies, successfully rehabilitated 27 children-beneficiaries who were once struggling with malnutrition, providing them with improved health and gave the family a positive outlook in life.
During an interview, Ms. Jemalyn Englis, a parent beneficiary stated ” Mapasalamaton gayud kaayo ko kay dako kaayo kini ug natabang sa paghatag ug wastong nutrisyon sa akong anak, bisan paman tuod kulang among pagpaningkamot mga ginikanan, naay alalay gikan sa gobyerno.”
Municipal Mayor of Pantukan Leonil Ceniza, represented by SB Member Hon. Joan C. Damigan, conveyed in a message how blessed and grateful they are on behalf of the Pantukeños for choosing their municipality for the said program.
On the same day, the province also recognizes the commendable contributions of the Local Government Units of Davao de Oro. Awards were given to the different municipalities and individuals who have shown exemplary performance in their service as Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Barangay Nutrition Scholar and Municipal Nutrition Coordinators.
On the later part, the governor expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the individuals who have greatly contributed to the overall success of the program. “Daghan kaayong salamat, sa makanunayon natung pagtinabangay. Sigurado ko nga hapsay, han-ay, healthy ang pagdagan sa atung mga programs sa pangnutrisyon sa tibuok probinsya sa Davao de Oro”
Furthermore, on December 2023, Davao de Oro received a prestigious CSC PAG-ASA Award as the LOWEST PREVALENCE RATE OF WASTING across the region which served as a testament to the collective efforts made by the province combating malnutrition and ensuring the children with a healthier future.
