๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ง, ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐จ ๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ – Local media and campus journalists in Davao de Oro gathered at the 2nd Floor, NCCC Nabunturan, today, August 17, 2023, for the Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency (PIA) press conference in partnership with the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro and NCCC Nabunturan.
Esteemed guests, namely Election Officer III Ruben A. Pleรฑos from the Office of the Election Officer Nabunturan, Attorney III Atty. Mcgarrie Earl C. Bueno representing the Provincial Legal Office (PLO), and Family Welfare Officer Rajane May R. Cabiles, from OWWA Region XI, provided insights into a variety of topics.
The discussions commenced with Attorney III Atty. Bueno underscored their mandate as representatives of the provincial government in legal matters of concern. He outlined legal aid initiatives and training conducted at the grassroots level to educate citizens about their rights and responsibilities.
Moreover, Election Officer III Pleรฑos began by sharing the arrangements for the much-awaited 2023 Barangay & SK Election. He shared details about the election schedule, emphasizing the aim for a more open and honest election process, and the intention to eradicate the issue of buying votes that sometimes arises during the campaign phase.
Meanwhile, Family Welfare Officer Cabiles provided an elaborate account of the extensive aid and backing services accessible to distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, encompassing financial aid, well-being initiatives, livelihood projects, and other forms of support.
Additionally, she conveyed that the OWWA Helpdesk is accessible at the DOLE DdO Office on Mondays and Wednesdays, and at the Provincial PESO Office on Tuesdays to extend assistance to those distressed OFWs and their families. She strongly encouraged prospective migrants to adhere to legal procedures to prevent potential problems in the future.
Further, the Kapihan press conference served as a platform for raising awareness about the government’s current and upcoming events, programs, and services.
