“To you, our dear principals of PESPA, our heartfelt congratulations … other than, I should say you’re living genuinely and really in accordance to your duties and obligations as a principal; we really expect you to remain counted as among the best principals that the DepEd has and will continue to have in the future. May God bless you always,” said Governor Dorothy Gonzaga during the turnover and oath taking ceremony of new officers of the Philippine Elementary School Principal Association (PESPA).
On July 15, 2022, Governor Gonzaga was invited as the inducting officer during the turnover and oath taking ceremony of the new set of officers of PESPA Davao de Oro Chapter at the Gold Conference Hall, Schools Division of DdO, Cabidianan, Provincial Capitol Complex, Nabunturan.
Outgoing President Rene Obeja, in his welcome message, extends gratitude to all the school principals, different school division superintendents, along with government officials, who supported them in implementing the plans, programs, and activities of the association for almost five years of service.
During the ceremony, Governor Gonzaga emphasized to the new officers, headed by PESPA President Elect Sandy Yee, that they are “the future leaders of the educational system” and must solemnly swear to genuinely do all the assigned duties and responsibilities to provide service to the fellow school principals, teachers, community, and most importantly, to the clientele, which are the learners.
“There is no such thing as a right time, but there is time and there is us nga gihatagan ug responsibility to decide on what are we going to do with this time, we have been given the authority, responsibility, and accountability to do the things that we must do as school heads and now as leaders of school heads … we are the torch bearers of the department of education”, said Yee.
Moreover, Php12,000 in cash was also turned over by the outgoing treasurer of the association as a manifestation of showing transparency and accountability. Further, a cash amount worth Php50,000 was given as an act of support by Governor Gonzaga, together with 2nd District Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, to the association as they will work together hand-in-hand in optimizing the educational system of the province.
Meanwhile, Cong Ruwel Gonzaga, together with Gov Gonzaga, also highlights supporting the teachers in terms of the challenges they face in any manner. He also points out to support, Vice President Inday Sara, the Secretary of Education, as he knows that there are many agendas, instructions, and guidelines from above to further provide benefits and provisions to the teachers of Davao de Oro.
