About 800 women in Davao de Oro gathered at the Provincial Capitol as they participated in the Provincial Women Congress 2023 during the launch of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) in the province on Friday, December 1, 2023.
Initiated by the Governor’s Office and the Provincial Women Development Council, chaired by Governor Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga, this empowering event aimed to bring together women from diverse backgrounds to foster a sense of unity and recognize them as catalysts of change in their respective communities.
Moreover, various stakeholders from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, PWDC, DILG, DOLE, DTI, TESDA, AFP, PNP, LGUs, and others joined Governor Gonzaga and Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga as they signed commitments, showing their full support for women empowerment, women’s health and protection, women and livelihood, sustainability, leadership, product centers, and achievement’s celebration.
Additionally, these women have been given the chance to showcase their talents through the “Kababayen-an Indayog sa Paskohan” competition, wearing their Christmas accents.
The Provincial Women Congress 2023 not only served as a platform for forging connections and developing strong bonds among other women but also as a testament to the collective commitment of governments towards their advancement, ultimately contributing to their holistic empowerment.
